REVIEWS for THE ELEPHANTS' CHILD

'I read The Elephant's Choice in one sitting (very late night!) as I couldn’t put it down – absolutely charming – well done!!'

'What a truly magical little book - the sort you need on your shelf so you can pick it up again and again as it helps you to remember the important things in life - especially love. It's a must for any age: 'the bedtime story', 'the lost teenager seeking sanctuary', 'the over-worked stressed adult' or the oldie enjoying the good old days! This book went into my soul and beyond: heartfelt, sad, loving, memorable, enlightening.'
'This is a beautiful book - the language is rich and evocative and the story immensely touching and insightful whilst exploring themes of love and loss from different perspectives of the adults and the child ... and the elephants. There is also a deeper wisdom to be found between the lines.'

'A heart-warming tale that felt so real. I loved the writing style, relaxed and like listening to good music.'

'Have just read ‘The Elephant’s Choice’ in practically one sitting and enjoyed it so much. What a wonderful insight into India in the 1950's.'

'This book is absolutely wonderful! Loving it and don’t want it to end … so well-observed and moving.'

'The Elephant Child - I really enjoyed it - my gut instinct that it would be ideal for a parent to read a child, discussing issues as they arise - or for a young teenager - or adult - it is a very versatile book indeed!!! '

'I so enjoyed this delightful book. Really charming.'

'This is an enchanting evocation of childhood years spent in Pakistan and India. M L Eaton captures the sights, sounds and smells of the subcontinent in succinct descriptions of daily life of an English family in the years soon after independence and partition. And the storyline obviously comes straight from the heart. A delightful read for children from 7 to 70.'
'I loved The Elephants' Choice. All the time I was reading it I felt very emotional and close to tears. It's a delightful book.'

'Such a good read, very moving and I will reread this again.'

'Having read this novella in one sitting as it was, quite literally, 'unputdownable'; I would love to recommend it most highly to other readers. The prose is almost poetic, if that observation is allowed in technical English language terms! It is strongly evocative of the sounds, smells and culture of the Indian sub continent in the dying days of the British influence. Sad in parts, ultimately it was a most uplifting story of a child's awakening to the world outside her sheltered existence. Elephants, don't we all have an affinity with them? They seem to have the best of human traits and none of the worst! The child's understanding of, identification with, love for and enjoyment of the elephants, particularly her 'special' one, tugged at my heartstrings. This little book will remain with me for a long time, read it yourself, soon.'

TRANSPORT YOURSELF AND SEE THROUGH A CHILD’S EYES

I took this book to read on my holidays. Wonderful! I read it by the time my flight landed six hours later! I smiled, laughed, and cried. Marion exudes such compassion and love through this work, opening her heart to us and in so doing opening ours further. This memoir brings a child's life vividly into focus; the vulnerability, great love and wisdom that as children we have, and that as adults we can do with remembering. A beautiful childhood journey filled with emotion, empathy, and compassion. A sensory delight! This is an enchanting evocation of childhood years spent in ...
